Vahid Nilforushan M.D., founder and instructor

Dr. Vahid Nilforushan, the founder and instructor of our program, is a well-known physician in Canada and Iran. He has a passion and special talent for teaching and has a proven track record in leadership, clinical practice, teaching, innovation, research, and advocacy for international medical graduates (IMGs) and patients.

You will hear about his latest contribution to medicine which is a novel approach and a new device for managing difficult and ordinary endotracheal intubation soon. This will have a significant impact on airway management and CRP success rate in out-of-hospital settings.

Dr. Nilforushan has been training physicians for the NAC OSCE and MCCQE2 exams for many years. However, his vision is beyond excellence in clinical skills exams preparation. His goal is to have a more lasting impact by training exceptionally competent and confident physicians who are highly sought after by renowned medical centers around the world.

As an immigrant physician, Dr. Nilforushan has experienced firsthand the challenges IMGs face for access to practice opportunities in North America. He has passed all the qualifying medical exams in Canada and the USA including the MCCQE2 and USMLE step 3 and the IMG BC Clinical Assessment Program (CAP) with remarkable scores. He has also practiced in a variety of clinical settings including Vancouver General Hospital. You will see the endorsements of some of the top physicians at Vancouver General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and UCLA about him on this page.

“It has been my great pleasure to work with Dr. Nilforushan since June of 2015, where he has been responsible for the in-hospital post-operative care of cardiac surgical patients at Vancouver General Hospital. He has proven himself to be one of the most dedicated physicians I have ever worked with, and always puts patient care as his first priority. This population of patients is often very sick, and have a large number of complex problems which need to be addressed. Dr. Nilforushan’s attention to detail, and excellent clinical skills have been responsible for averting major complications in several of our patients. Because of this, I am certain that the excellent outcomes enjoyed by cardiac surgical patients at Vancouver General Hospital are in part due to the high quality of care provided by Dr. Nilforushan.”

Having had a variety of invaluable experiences and caring greatly for IMGs, he has pursued a variety of activities to support and improve the integration of IMGs into the medical system of Canada. He has worked hard for many years to create highly effective free or affordable preparation programs and courses for IMGs for excelling in the NAC OSCE and passing the MCCQE2 exam. This has been a response to those IMGs who have found most other preparation programs unhelpful, crowded, and expensive. As a result, his students have gotten excellent results and have been highly satisfied with his programs. Almost all his previous students are residents or independently practicing physicians in North America now because of the right decision they made at a critical time when preparing for the NAC OSCE or MCCQE2.

“It has been a great pleasure to work with Dr. Nilforushan. He is a truly dedicated and capable physician. He is not only a talented clinician who takes excellent care of his patient, he is also a caring physician who takes the time to listen. I have always had very high confidence in his abilities to care for the complex patients in the post cardiac surgery setting.”

Dr. Nilforushan has also demonstrated his care for IMGs by volunteering his time and expertise to be a voice for IMGs and actively advocating for them to end the discrimination they have been facing in Canada for access to practice opportunities. In 2020, he co-founded a non-profit society called Canadian On Paper Society for Immigrant Physicians Equality (COPSIPE) for this purpose. Before immigrating to Canada, Dr. Nilforushan worked as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesia and Critical Care at Shahid Beheshti (SBUMS) and Tehran University of Medical Sciences, two leading medical universities in Tehran, Iran. Being granted a patent for difficult endotracheal intubation, co-founding the first inpatient addiction treatment center in Tehran which drew the attention of the United Nations and designing a program to teach CPR to the general public in Iran are among his other achievements.

“I had the privilege to work along-side Dr. Nilforushan for fourteen months as an Anesthesiology Resident at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Anesthesiology Residency Program in Tehran/Iran from October 1994 to December 1995. Dr. Nilforushan has exceptional knowledge in the field of anesthesia. His degree of intelligence is reflected by his first rank in Iranian Anesthesiology Board Certification Exam in 1997. I was always inspired by his level of cognitive skills that he showed during our training. He became Assistant Professor of two very well-known Universities in Tehran. He is a highly motivated person; he founded the first standard private center for addiction treatment in the city of Tehran. He has also a comprehensive experience in the field of clinical research and academic teaching.”
